The best way to start? Start small. While modest in number of accounts you look to engage with - don't be modest in your expected outcome.
Think big. Be creative. Work closely with VP of Sales on 5 accounts. Do the impossible. Win them - or at least a high percentage of them.
Show how your ABM strategy helped contribute to winning them. Present the results back to your organization - jointly with your VP of Sales. You'll have started a revolution.
